THE CHALLENGE

One of the world’s leading document management companies had experienced rapid growth in the U.S. and Canada over the past decade, both organically and through multiple acquisitions.  As a result, maintenance and support for mission critical IT equipment was fragmented across multiple, regional suppliers.  The client’s leadership team saw a clear opportunity to streamline and unify maintenance management and execution for their enterprise mobility assets across their North American operation.  Gaining overarching control of the important maintenance management function offered big potential payoffs:  first, by consolidating with an expert vendor to gain scale and drive down maintenance costs, and second, in improved visibility and information on asset performance and utilization.

THE SOLUTION

Lexicon’s portfolio of capabilities – multi-vendor repair expertise in the enterprise mobility space, including portable barcode scanners and printers – and RepairEngine®, our online Service Management System, offered this document management leader the solution to satisfy both objectives.

The client teamed with their solution provider — Vixia North America — and Lexicon to customize a RepairEngine®-based Maintenance Management program to support their operations in the US and Canada.  Lexicon and Vixia analysts engaged client staff to identify mission critical enterprise mobility hardware, which became the initial technology equipment focus for this engagement.  Lexicon’s repair analysts utilized RepairEngine® to ensure asset and repair management transaction visibility to relevant North American client operations centers, regional managers, and corporate staff.  The client now benefits from a unified maintenance management, reporting, and analytics platform to consistently provide accurate, complete information to improve decision making.

Technology asset visibility was improved and administrative and maintenance costs were reduced when more than half a dozen regional vendors were eliminated.  Combining all critical IT assets under a single maintenance contract with Lexicon, provided technology expertise and repair economies of scale, and have resulted in hard dollar savings for the client.
