JOB OPENING: LEAD DELIVERY DRIVER

Position Summary 

Delivery Drivers are responsible for driving, cleaning, and maintaining trucks. Responsible for making local deliveries and/or delivering locally on their own. Maintain contact (radio or telephone) with the Warehouse Delivery Center to receive delivery and/or pickup instructions, and other general warehouse duties as assigned. Warehouse organization, shipping and receiving is minimal. Must be handy with tools and mechanically inclined. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Providing Drivers with daily designated routes
  • Reassign drivers to reflect needs of daily schedule.
  • Assists with creating new routes for new accounts.
  • Cleaning and maintaining the trucks, including taking the truck to designated area for clean out, and fuel for the next day
  • Performing minor repairs to the truck (e.g., tightening loose bolts/fittings, inspecting all moving parts)
  • Monitoring the need for major repairs, including engine tune-up, oil change, filter change, and tire replacements
  • Picking up and delivering at set locations daily
  • Loading, unloading, and operating a 17′ Box Truck and/or Vans
  • Maintaining safe operation and clean appearance (company provided uniforms) by complying with company operational policies, procedures, and standards
  • Operating and maintaining vehicle in safe and clean condition
  • Receiving materials from warehouse and delivering to proper location 
  • Interfacing with Warehouse / School personnel to ensure timely deliveries, including pulling orders, receiving and putting away product
  • Assist with inventory control
  • Performing other duties as assigned 

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; and one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Have and maintain current and valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to safely drive vehicles
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors, and the general public
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions
  • Ability to make independent judgments which have moderate impacts on the organization
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
